October

9th Scottish Beagle Club Open Show

A very busy day, getting there early to help set up, the show was very busy and we did a lot of catching up with friends, Cara did well winning 2nd in Puppy bitch and 2nd in Junior Bitch, Fudge got a 3rd in Limit Bitch and Darci a 3rd in Open Bitch, a great day.
Decided to give Cara a rest and see if we can work on her confidence on the table so no shows for a while.

8th South Wales Kennel Ass:

Debbie and I back down again and we never seem to be able to find the show ground, but it’s normal for us and especially me never to get it right first time, I need Debbie there to help me out!!! (Thanks Debbie xx) well Cara was still not great on the table but the judge  Mr Peter Higgins was very gentle with her which helped, she was placed reserve in Puppy bitch and  3rd in Junior bitch. Another nice day, we bought a cake each before heading home yum....

2nd Driffield Agricultural Society:

On the road again back down to Wetherby this time with Fiona Kelly and Stewart Brannan, it was awful, the ground was extremely muddy with all the rain and it was wellies all round, luckily Stewart carried the dogs to the benching tent (tan and whites and mud are not a good combo!) the ring was fine. Cara got a reserve in Post Grad Bitch under Judge Mrs Linda Player.

September

25th Belfast Dog Show Society Champ show

Firstly thanks to Fiona MacDonald and Hazel Deans for letting me travel with them. This was a long day having left my house at 10 pm the night, before we had to catch a very early ferry to get us over to Ireland for the show. Cara was still not herself but was enjoying the company of her litter brother Rhum, It was a lovely day and we arrived in plenty of time, Rhum got placed 2nd in Puppy dog and 3rd in Junior dog he didn’t show as well as he had which could be down to tiredness, Cara who was still nervous on the table recovered and made up for it on the ground she was placed 2nd in Puppy Bitch and 2nd in Junior Bitch thanks to Judge Brian Foster. After returning from lunch I noticed blood around Cara’s mouth, it was bleeding from the inside, and she fairly picked up after that, we went to the beach and the dogs had a run, before catching the ferry back.
A quick trip to the vets on the Monday revealed that the blood could have been an abscess in Cara’s mouth but it cleared up quickly, however we are now working hard to get her confident on the table once more, which is proving very difficult.

18th Four Counties Beagle Club

A super day for Rhum winning 1st in Puppy Dog, 1st in Special Yearling and 1st in Graduate dog also giving him best puppy dog, well done wee Rhum he showed his socks off!! Cara still suffering with the trauma of the vet won a 3rd in Puppy Bitch, VHC in Junior Bitch and a 3rd in Special Yearling, Fudge won 3rd in Limit and Darci won 4th in Open, Thanks to judge Sheila Miller ( Millmar) what a great day and I was knackered!!!

17th Darlington champ

Rhum got off to a great start winning 1st in Puppy Dog, Res in Junior Dog and 2nd in Post Grad, Cara however wasn’t playing on the table today and was very nervous after having a sore mouth and attending the vet the week before, but she was placed as reserve in Junior Bitch, Fudge was placed reserve in Post Grad Bitch, under Judge Ken Sinclair.

12th

Cara not herself, a very sore mouth and won’t let anyone look so a trip to the vet, where she had to be sedated in case it was a stick, the vet could’nt find anything wrong but she was put on painkillers as he could see she was in tremendous pain. This seemed to help her.

We have travelled down to Stockton with the caravan for Darlington and Four Counties shows, Debbie and Jim ( Bruadair ) and Dee and Paul ( Koorbrats) were also at the caravan site, what a laugh and a great couple of days. I was showing Rhum too as Fiona and Stewart couldn’t make it so an extra wee holiday for him!
